Saint Rose of Lima

Picture
Saint Rose of Lima was born on April 20th 1586 in the small, beautiful town of Lima, Peru. Her feast day is August 23rd and her baptismal name is Isabel. She had a great devotion to God as well as Saint Catherine of Sienna. An interesting fact of Saint Rose is that she was the very first canonized American. She is the patron saint of Americans; people ridiculed for their piety; and she is also against vanity. She is so against it that she rubbed peppers on her face to make it less beautiful. She accepted all her sufferings cheerfully and lived each day as faithful as the last. She recieved many mental and physical sufferings.
She died at the young age of 31 in 1617 and she was canonized in 1671 as a Saint.
